Even today many people of the country live in slums. Government of India is helping such people to get permanent homes. That is why the government launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2017.
People are divided into 3 groups based on their income to get houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
People can get subsidized loans under these categories.
1. EWS (Economically Weaker Section)
2. LIG (Low Income Persons)
3. MIG (Middle Income Earners)
Annual income for MIG 1 category should be between Rs 6 to 12 lakhs. This category is eligible for subsidized loan amount up to Rs.9 lakh.
Annual income of MIG 1 category is Rs. 12 to Rs. The loan limit allowed for subsidy is Rs 12 lakh for this category of Rs 18 lakh. Annual income of MIG 1 category is Rs. 12 to Rs. The loan limit allowed for subsidy is Rs 12 lakh for this category of Rs 18 lakh.
Annual income of LIG category should be between 3 to 6 lakhs. The total loan sanctioned to him is Rs 6 lakh. Annual income of EWS category should be up to Rs.3 lakh. The amount of subsidized loan to him is Rs.6 lakh. These loans are subsidized at certain rates
According to the provisions of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Only one person in a family can avail the benefit of this scheme. For example, if father and son live together in the same house, only father or son can avail the benefits of the scheme.
If two persons are different and both have separate ration cards, both are reported to be accepted as eligible to apply for the scheme.
