Big shock for BPL cards holders: 3 lakhs cards cancelled Gruhalakshmi and other facilities are stoped

The government is quietly giving “APL shock” to some BPL card holders in the state! The Department of Food, Civil and Consumer Affairs, which operates under several norms including payment of income tax, has already detected around 12 lakh ineligible BPL cards.

Work has been done to convert some of them into APL card holders. As usual, when they put their finger on the biometric in the fair price shops for ration, “APL” is hatching.

A notice will be issued to such customers when they are found to be holding an ineligible BPL card through inspection. It is then suspended. But this time, instead of such an exercise, BPL is directly added to the list of APL cardholders.

Cut to 3 lakh BPL cards?

At the end of August, there were 1.27 crore BPL card holders in the state, including 10.84 lakh Antyodayas. 1.24 lakh in two months.Officials have informed “Udayavani” that more or less three lakh cards have been cut and thousands of card holders have converted to APL.

All ineligible BPL cardholders will not be converted to APL at once. This action is being taken after following many processes and making sure.

It is suggested to scrutinize the ineligible BPL cards and convert them into APL if necessary. Exact figures are not yet available. It should not be concluded that all PAN card holders are income tax payers.

I have suggested that a decision should be reached after a comprehensive review in this regard.” – K.H. Muniyappa, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies
