In a major announcement, workers holding an e-Shram card in the unorganized sector have great news today. The government introduced the e-Shram Card to enable unorganized workers to avail of government scheme benefits effortlessly through the portal. Once they reach 60 years of age, registered workers will receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000 directly into their accounts. This initiative aims to improve the standard of living for workers. Additionally, workers can seek assistance through the toll-free helpline number 14434 after registration.

Benefits of the e-Shram Card 2025

  • Compensation for accidental death: The family of a worker holding an e-Shram card will receive ₹2,00,000 in case of untimely death.
  • Compensation for disability: Workers suffering from partial disability due to an accident will receive ₹1,00,000.
  • Insurance coverage: Workers enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana through the e-Shram portal are eligible for an insurance benefit of up to ₹2,00,000.
  • Inactive card benefits: Workers holding an inactive labour card can still claim insurance coverage of ₹1,00,000.

Documents Required to Create an e-Shram Card:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
  • Savings bank account number with IFSC code

Eligibility for Registration:

The following individuals can register for an e-Shram card:

Registration Process:

Workers can register for an e-Shram card by visiting the official e-Shram portal (https://www.eshram.gov.in) or by visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). Registration is free of cost.

After successful registration, beneficiaries will receive a Unique Identification Number (UAN) card, which will remain valid throughout their lifetime. This scheme is applicable to individuals aged 16 to 59 who do not pay income tax, are not EPF beneficiaries, or do not benefit from ESI.
