In order to promote organic farming in the state, the Karnataka State Government has brought out the Organic Agriculture Policy in the year 2004-05 and under this policy, the state has been gradually implementing agricultural promotion programs.
The government has given good news to the farmers who grow cereals and have small amount of land. In order to encourage the cultivation of cereals, Raita Siri Yojana has been implemented, under which the government will provide Rs 10,000 for the supply of seeds and fertilizers required for the cultivation of cereals.
Organic Agriculture Policy 2004 The organic agriculture promotion programs implemented in the state include conservation of biodiversity, mixed farming, soil and water conservation, local production of organic manure, land use.
Organic as well as creating awareness among farmers about organic farming practices as a whole including regeneration etc.
The main objective of the projects was to convince the farmers that agriculture is the best sustainable production method. The said policy will be revised with inclusion of market based activities in the Organic Agriculture Policy, 2017.
Objective of the Project:
Including setting up of processing, value addition, grading, packing and branding units of cereal products to encourage the processing of cereals to get better price for the cereal products grown by the farmers of the state.
The main motive of the program is to supply cereal value added products to the consumers by encouraging their market consolidation as a whole and the scheme will be proposal based.
