The state government has given a good news to the farmers, applications are invited for installation of grid-free solar farming pumpset under the Kusum B scheme.
This is an ambitious solar pumpset project by the state government to provide day time irrigation facilities to the farmers.
Kusum B Yojana has been designed to reduce dependence on conventional electricity for irrigation and achieve self-sufficiency for farmers through the use of solar energy. To make the agriculture sector profitable, the government is providing 80% more subsidy to promote the use of solar energy.

Under the Kusum B scheme, the state government has given the subsidy amount of Rs. 30 to percent increased to 50. Under Kusum B scheme, solar panels, submersible/surface DC pumps, mounting structure, panel board, pipe and cable are supplied to the farmers.
Solar pump sets are easy to install and long lasting, making solar technology more popular in rural areas as well. With the use of solar pumpset, electricity will be supplied to agricultural activities for about 8 hours during the day time.
The solar pumps installed in the agricultural land will be maintained by the supplier for free for 5 years. There will be a good response from the farming community. Under the Scheme for Regularization of Unauthorized Pump sets (UNIP) the farmers have applied by paying more than 50, then their irrigation pumpset will be given first priority.
