PM KUSUM Scheme started in 2019. The Government of India is a scheme to help farmers install solar irrigation pumps and solar power plants. This allows farmers to set up solar power stations on their agricultural land and sell the electricity generated to discoms.

PM KUSUM Scheme, Farmers can lease their property to the government for the rent that comes from it. As an alternative, the government offers solar-powered pumps at 60% subsidy. There is an option to either use the electricity domestically or sell it to discoms, both of which farmers can benefit from this scheme.

Farmers who take advantage of this can get an income of 60,000 to 1 lakh per year for 25 years by selling the generated electricity. It is also eco-friendly as the project aims to reduce the use of diesel generators and fuel costs.
