The PM Scholarship Scheme was introduced from the academic year 2006-07 to enable dependent children of Ex-servicemen/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel and their widows to pursue higher technical and vocational education.
A total of 5500 children/widows of ex-servicemen will be selected for the scholarship every academic year. Every year 2750 candidates are selected for this scheme, 2750 for boys and girls separately.
Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the PM Scholarship under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme. Notification for Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme given by Central Military Board has been issued.
Under this scheme, scholarships will be awarded to eligible candidates studying vocational and technical courses. Interested candidates can apply by November 30.Students admitted to full-time professional and technical courses in the academic year 2024-25 will be awarded scholarships under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme. 30,000 per year for selected boys and 36,000 per year for girls. Applications are to be submitted on the website of the Central Military Council.
Scholarship worth Rs 30,000-36,000 per annum will be given in Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme. November 30 is the last day to apply. The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme is applicable only to the descendants of ex-servicemen and those who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
Eligibilty to apply PM Scholarship
Students admitted in the first year in 2024-25 can apply. Only those admitted in the current financial year are eligible to apply for PMSS.
Students should apply online on KSB web portal. Candidates must have passed minimum 10+2/diploma/degree with 60% marks and above.
Students studying in 2nd or subsequent years of the course are not eligible for this scheme. Only dependents/ ex-servicemen and widows of Coast Guard ex-servicemen are eligible for this scheme.
The scheme is not applicable to general citizens including paramilitary personnel.
Marks obtained in minimum educational qualifying examinations, family members of those who died in military operations, children of those who sustained permanent disability in military operations, children of those who sustained permanent disability during duty, those who died due to various causes of duty.
children of accidents, children of those killed in military operations, children of those disabled during duty, children of gallant awardees will be given priority for scholarship selection.
Eligible courses
The following courses are applicable for PMS scheme. BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, BE, BBA, BCA, B Pharma, BA. Those admitted to full time courses like LLB can apply for this scheme.
Only courses recognized by organizations like All India Board of Technical Education, National Medical Commission, UGC will be allowed. Post graduate courses except MBA/ MCA courses are not eligible for PMSS.
Who are not eligible to get PM Scholarship?
- Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme. ·
- Distance education / vocational courses are not allowed under PMSS. ·
- Scholarship can be availed for maximum one course only in PMSS.
