To achieve the objective of ‘Housing for All’ in rural areas, out of the 3.79 crore houses allocated to states and union territories as of February 2, 3.34 crore houses have been approved, and 2.69 crore houses have been completed so far, the government stated on Friday.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development since April 1, 2016, financial assistance has been provided to 2.95 crore eligible rural beneficiaries without housing.
As of March 31, 2024, all houses have been approved for eligible beneficiaries in states and union territories, as informed by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmassani, in the Rajya Sabha.
