Cyclone ‘Dana’ is created by changes in sea level during the activation of monsoon winds.

Coast: Coastal districts of the state, including Kasaragod, are forecast to have sunny and scattered clouds, Sulya, Subramanya, Puttur Bantwala, Kasaragod parts are forecasted for afternoon and evening showers with scattered thundershowers.Rainfall in Uttara Kannada district may be a little heavy. As of now, there are indications that rain will continue on the coast till October 25.
Malenadu: Scattered thundershowers are forecast in the areas adjoining the coastal districts of Kodagu district. Cloudy and scattered showers are likely in the remaining parts.
Scattered thundershowers are forecast in Chikkamagaluru and Shimoga districts in areas adjoining the plains of Hassan district. As of now, there are signs that the rain will continue till October 24.
Interior: Thunderstorm is forecast in most parts of the northern and southern interior of the state today.
In the north interior districts of Haveri, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bagalkote, Gadag, Davangere, Bellary and Raichur, good rain is forecast, while scattered normal rain is forecast in Koppal, Vijayapur, Kalaburgi, Yadagiri and Bidar districts.
Good rain with thundershowers is forecast in most parts of south interior districts of Mysore, Chamarajanagar (including Gundlupet), Mandya, Ramnagar, Bangalore, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumkur (including Pavagadh), Chitradurga. (Early morning rain in some parts).
As the winds blowing from the Arabian sea towards the Bay of Bengal through the Sri Lankan coast are entering the state through Tamil Nadu (from south-east to north-west), the south interior, Chikkamagaluru, Shimoga and north coastal parts are experiencing heavy rains.
Cyclone “Dana” in the Bay of Bengal is likely to make landfall on the Bangladesh coast on October 24, with signs of severe setback to the trade winds. As of now, from October 26, most parts of the state are likely to experience sunshine and dry air.
