PM Surya Ghar Yojana, BESCOM recently shared a poster on its social media platforms encouraging people to install solar power units on their rooftops under the “Surya Ghar Yojana” and avail attractive subsidies. For households consuming 201–300 units of electricity, installing a 3 kW solar plant would cost around ₹1.8 lakh to ₹2.4 lakh, with an estimated annual savings of ₹36,000.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mukta Vidyut Yojana, BESCOM highlighted that consumers can pay for the installation over five years and enjoy 20 years of electricity usage without any additional charges
Cost of installation
BESCOM also provided details on the cost of installing rooftop solar plants and the savings it would bring. A bank loan is available at an annual interest rate of 7%, with the option to repay the EMI over a period of up to 10 years, as per BESCOM’s statement on its X account.
To install a 1 kW solar panel, a space of 10×10 feet is sufficient. The total cost includes a five-year maintenance fee. Interested consumers can apply by submitting a copy of their latest electricity bill and Aadhaar card.
